EcoStapler

The EcoStapler^TM is a staple-less stapler. It works on up to 5 sheets of paper, and it uses only the paper its “stapling” to fasten it together. It punctures a tiny hole like a hole-punch, but instead of discarding the excess paper, it actually ties and binds it to all the papers you're “stapling. Use it like a regular stapler, but without any wasted metal.

A single metal staple doesn't look like much. However, when you consider that more than a billion tons of steel are used every year to make staples, then that one staple adds up quickly. As well, in order to make all those staples, raw-materials need to be mined and drawn from the Earth, refined, and then shipped to a factory in order to be manufactured into staples.
